The "profile" of a siding is its shape or contour - the height and depth and number of ridges it has. Each profile catches the light differently and produces its own style of shadow lines. Each style will make your home look slightly different. There are three unique styles available in steel siding.

 

• Traditional Clapboard
• Dutch Lap
• Vertical Board and Batten

 

Clapboard siding is available in three profiles: Double 4, Double 5, and Straight 8. Dutch Lap is most popular in the Double 5 profile, and Vertical Siding is typically manufactured in a Single 12” Profile consisting of a 10” face and a 2” Batten. As you might guess, a "double 4" clapboard is 4" deep from ridge to ridge. “Double” means that 2 ridges are combined in a single panel for more efficient installation.
